November / December 2008

I thought this was going to be a good month because I refinanced my home and paid everything off...yippee!!! So now I just have a house payment and utilities.

Took a while but FINALLY got rid of the three week cold that caused me to miss Thanksgiving and my cousin's bridal shower. The family was kind enough to bring me some food.

We finally had some big snowstorms, so winter has offically arrived and people traveling have had such a hard time.

Christmas Eve day my boss took me and my co-worker to lunch and then we were off for a long weekend!!! Whoohoo! I'm in charge of the ham this year, so went to Costco on Tuesday the 23rd and got two 8 lb. hams...then I went to mom's house to give her a couple of things she needed and we saw the commercial for HoneyBaked Hams...I won't have to cook...so we ended up placing an order online and when I got there at 4pm on Christmas Eve there were not as many people as I had heard were there earlier in the day. They have a GREAT sweet potato souffle, that we got for Christmas Day.

Had a nice Christmas Eve with the family until I got hurt...not sure exactly what happened...was holding a plate of food with red jello in my left hand and there was a little person I was trying to avoid and in doing some contourtions we all heard my foot snap...I am proud to say I didn't step or land on the little person and I managed NOT to get red jello on the white carpet!!! Yea Me!!!

So we got me to a chair and put ice on it. Luckily it was my left foot, so therefore I could drive my mom home. She wanted me to go to the ER and I said why do I want to spend $125 for them to tell me there is nothing wrong. Her response was that they would at least x-ray and wrap it and give me drugs. Okay, she had me at drugs!!! LOL!! It only took one and a half hours so not too bad, I have a bone chip that they are not sure is new or old.

My friend Peggie came and got me on Christmas day to go to my mom's. Had a nice dinner and watched "Mrs. Claus" with Angela Lansbury. Then home with my foot up and iced until Monday when I got to come back to work. Still hurts...

My cousin is getting married on Saturday and I think I am starting another cold...

I just have to say 2009 has got to be better!!! If things come in threes...I am done!! And so is my mom!!!

May you be blessed with happiness, health, hope and peace in your New Year!

I hope this is true!

I found a saying the other day that I just had to get under the circumstances...

God helps those that help themselves.
God REALLY helps those that help their Moms!

If It's Not One Thing, It's Your Mother!

This was started on the dated listed, but completed on December 14th!!! These photos didn't line up the way I entered them, so you are looking at the good to bad...

My mother had a bizarre accident on October 30th. She left a kettle of water on the stove and forgot it. The house filled with smoke...she ran to the kitchen to throw the kettle into the sink and the bottom of the kettle fell out, she then stepped on the hot metal with her right nylon stockinged foot. The fire department came as well as the paramedics who offered to take her to the hospital, but she waited for me to come get her. So we spent the evening at the emergency room, she had a two members of her ward come to the hospital to give her a blessing and then I moved in for the next 22 days to take care of her. I slept on the couch for 10 days before I remembered that it was a sofa sleeper...oh duh!!!

When we went to the podiatrist on November the 3rd, he was planning to see her every week for four weeks before he took off any of the damaged skin. We rented a wheelchair and loaded up on bandages. She was pretty much bedridden for the first week, just up to the bathroom and back to bed. Mom had some friends and her Relief Society that brought her food while she was down. It was gratefully accepted!!!

The next appointment on the 10th, he thought it was ready to take off the dead skin and then told us to come back in two weeks.

I went home on Friday, the 21st of November and promptly caught an awful cold that I am just now getting rid of three weeks later! (I missed Thanksgiving with the whole family and my cousin's bridal shower, dang it all!)

We had her appointment on the 24th with me wearing a face mask so not to spread germs. I was SOOOO tired!!! The docotor looked at her foot and said we were done unless she had any problems. We were concerned as she is a type 2 diabetic. It has been very painful, but we finally got her out this weekend to do some of her Christmas shopping and she did pretty good!

No More...

Well, my job at Desert Star was short lived...I'm not sure what happened to me but I went into melt-down mode after my first three shifts and just had to quit. I wish I could explain what happened but I can't...as perfect as I thought it would be for me it just wasn't. I still love Desert Star and will always have season tickets!!!

So for now I am helping my mom out and selling plasma. The good news on that front is that I had measles when I was little and so now I have an antibody that they want and I get paid an extra $7.00 dollars per time. WHOOHOO! Maybe they will find other antibodies that they need...it's too bad I'm not rh negative...they pay a lot for those people.

Odds & Ends

Whoohoo! I dropped of my application at Desert Star on Saturday. I got a call on Tuesday, had the interview on Tuesday afternoon and got hired. I start training on Friday! That seemed so easy...I am looking at about 20 hours a week. We'll see how this works out for me! Wish me luck!

I will still sell plasma to keep money in my pocket. My third time was last night and seemed to go better and maybe it will get easier as time goes on. Had a nice conversation with the guy next to me. I donated part of my pay to them with a chance to win a VID pass, which gets you to the head of the line on days you are in a hurry. There are drawing for a lifetime pass, a year pass, some month passes and just a single visit pass. I haven't won anything in a long time, so maybe!

I am trying to win a trip to Disney/Florida for the ABC Soap weekend in November. I have a friend who wants me to go to Disney with her. She thinks she can make it fun for me...so if I win, she can show me the fun!

At the end of the month I am taking a Boomer Belly Dancing Class with a friend. I tried about ten yeras ago and ended up in a class with teeny boppers...not fun, I quit! So this is for "older" people...hope it will be fun! It's an eight week class that starts on the 25th.

That's it for today!

Selling Plasma

Well, while in search of a new part-time job, I decided to try selling plasma. Let me say it was a most interesting experience!

I went on Wednesday at 5:30pm, having been told on Sunday to come in on Monday and then not being able to get in...it looks like this is a way for MANY people to make a few extra dollars. The staff was kind, I think they felt sorry for me as I had a "deer in the headlights" look about me. So how was my second experience...my first being about 20 years ago when they took the blood out of one arm and returned it in the other...well things have changed...only one arm is necessary. Unless you happen to be me...we didn't get too far into the process when my right arm's vein blew...so the tragedy of that happening is IF you don't get the red cells back in it counts as a donation and you can't do this again for 56 days...oh my! Luckily they were able to pump back into me using the left arm (which I usually avoid because of scar tissue) and despite not getting very much plasma, I was still paid! So all in all, I will try again this weekend...you can donate twice a week. It is amazing that you get paid MORE if you weigh more than 149 pounds...it's what I would like to weigh right now but we'll keep working on losing as I keep selling.

Would I recommend this as a way to make money, probably not...but it works for me right now!

Women & Voting

I claim to vote so therefore I can bitch about the choice that was made...but this story is the REAL reason women should vote! And how much control of the country could we have IF we stepped up, like these women, and demanded that our voices be heard. I recently heard that women outnumber men again...so WHY in heaven's name are WE "letting" men control our destiny, our country? They've done such a brilliant job so far...(just a little sarcasm)

We have always known that some of the Presidents have cheated on their wives while in office...why are we not more outraged that our elected officials can't keep their pants zipped up and do the job they were elected to do? Just because it's always been done, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do!

I would love to have a woman President, but it has to be the right woman. Part of the reason I did not want Hilary in office is because she "let" Bill humiliate her before the country, not once mind you...MANY times! And I am trying to wrap my mind around why it bothers me and why I don't think she'd be a good President. Now if Ann Richards was alive and well and running for President...she is the woman and the democrat I would vote for...

I am SOOOO tired of trying to figure out who is going to be the lessor of two evils when it comes to electing someone to office. I want someone who has good business sense...that can lead our country out of debt...that can lead us back to being a RESPECTED nation...to have integrity and honesty. And it's not just about the Presidency either...it's the whole of Congress. If the President can only have TWO terms, let's set limits on Congress to three or four terms at MAX...NO LIFETIME MEMBERS! I think NEW blood is in order to stir things up!

I want a President like Geena Davis played on TV, like Kevin Kline played in "Dave" and maybe even Michael Douglas played in "The American President".

It is time to do away with the Electoral College (An electoral college is a set of electors who are empowered to elect a candidate to a particular office. Often these electors represent different organizations or entities, with each organization or entity represented by a particular number of electors or with votes weighted in a particular way. Many times, though, the electors are simply important persons whose wisdom, it is hoped, would provide a better choice than a larger body. The system can ignore the wishes of a general membership, whose thinking need not be considered.) and go to a popular vote so that we can feel as though our choice matters.

Okay...those are my ramblings about politics for tonight...

***********************************************************

This is the story of our Grandmothers, and Great-grandmothers, as they lived only 90 years ago. It was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

***********************************************************

The women were innocent and defenseless. And by the end of the night, they were barely alive. Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of "obstructing sidewalk traffic."

They beat Lucy Burn, chained her hands to the cell bars above her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping for air. They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate, Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.. Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging, beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the "Night of Terror" on Nov. 15, 1917, when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson 's White House for the right to vote.

For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms. When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair, forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited. She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.

So, refresh my memory. Some women won't vote this year because--why, exactly? We have carpool duties? We have to get to work? Our vote doesn't matter? It's raining?

Last week, I went to a sparsely attended screening of HBO's new movie "Iron Jawed Angels." It is a graphic depiction of the battle these women waged so that I could pull the curtain at the polling booth and have my say. I am ashamed to say I needed the reminder.

All these years later, voter registration is still my passion. But the actual act of voting had become less personal for me, more rote. Frankly, voting often felt more like an obligation than a privilege. Sometimes it was inconvenient.
My friend Wendy, who is my age and studied women' s history, saw the HBO movie, too.. When she stopped by my desk to talk about it, she looked angry. She was--with herself. "One thought kept coming back to me as I watched that movie," she said. "What would those women think of the way I use--or don't use--my right to vote? All of us take it for granted now, not just younger women, but those of us who did seek to learn." The right to vote, she said, had become valuable to her "all over again."

HBO released the movie on video and DVD. I wish all history, social studies and government teachers would include the movie in their curriculum. I want it shown on Bunco night, too, and anywhere else women gather. I realize this isn't our usual idea of socializing, but we are not voting in the numbers that we should be, and I think a little shock therapy is in order.
It is jarring to watch Woodrow Wilson and his cronies try to persuade a psychiatrist to declare Alice Paul insane so that she could be permanently institutionalized. And it is inspiring to watch the doctor refuse. Alice Paul was strong, he said, and brave. That didn't make her crazy.

The doctor admonished the men: "Courage in women is often mistaken for insanity."

Please, if you are so inclined, pass this on to all the women you know.

We need to get out and vote and use this right that was fought so hard for by these very courageous women. Whether you vote democratic, republican or independent party -remember to vote.

History is being made! May God Bless America!

A First for Me...

Wow, it has been a while since I last blogged!

On August 7th I was fired from my part-time job at Park 'n Jet after 17 years off and on...

I will admit that I wrote a snippy note about "it would be nice if management would do their job so I could do mine". It was over garbage bags...frustration just built up as time and time again I would show up to my shift and something was wrong. The outside lights didn't work, the carwash didn't work, the drivers didn't show up or the next booth person didn't show up on time. I just wanted to come to work and do my job which as I understood it was customer service. I was to make the customer happy that they had parked with us. Some days were easier than others.

Do I think I deserved to be fired over this...no, I don't, but it was their call. Personally if I were the management I would have had a sit-down conversation with me, because obviously something was wrong for me to write the note in the first place and then if need be I would have given a warning that the attitude needed to change and be on probation...but to straight out fire someone...not the right thing to do!

I was also told when I got fired (AT my regular place of employment, no less) that there were drivers that didn't want to work with me. Hmm...if there was a problem with a driver that had come to management's attention, you would think that it would be brought to my attention so that the problem could be resolved. I can guess which drivers didn't want to work with me and I can tell you that I didn't like working with them either (there are two sides to every story). I have never heard so many F-words used in my presence in one night as I had around them and with customers just outside the window. I was embarrassed and hoped the customers couldn't hear what was being said, especially if the drivers weren't tipped.

So I am counting on the fact that when one door closes another one will open. So if anyone know of a great part-time job in customer service, call me!

American Idol Tour Concert

I have the coolest mom, she bought us tickets to the American Idol Tour concert for last night! It was a great concert! They were all good, some more than others! David Cook had recently hurt his leg or knee and for the most part I didn't notice. When he goes out on tour himself I will go to that concert and hope that he will do some ballads. I know he is a "rocker", but he can do the ballads well. I bought his picture to hang up somewhere in the house!

Thanks Mom, it was fun!!!

Pets and Death

First off, let me say, I love my cats!! I really do! I also love them enough to let them go when it is time!

And what started this post was an article in Time magazine about doing stem-cell replacement therapy for pets...nor do I think we should be cloning our pets!! Enough already, pets are becoming almost as expensive as having children!!!

I was extremely blessed with my first cat, Sheena ("my baby"), I got her when she was eight weeks old...she lived to be 21 years old. She was diagnosed at age 15 with early renal failure. I didn't do much except change her food and once a year I had blood work done to make sure every thing was working as it should. Every day past her 15th birthday I felt was a blessing. She got to the point where she couldn't hear, she was having difficulty walking and her teeth were gone. I just knew when it was time.

The boys were a different story, they both developed diabetes. Max was put to sleep the same month he was diagnosed. Simon was diagnosed a year later and was put to sleep five months later. I personally could not see giving my cats two or three shots a day to control their diabetes...not the quality of life I saw for them. I was blessed to have them both and I miss them.

I have watched people hold onto their animals far too long for the comfort and well-being of the animal. How kind is that?

I know that pets are not disposable, nor would I ever give back one that I had (I walked away from my first condo for Sheena when she was seven, well worth it since she lived 14 more years). I just know that my responsibilty to them is to give them a good home, keep them as healthy and as happy and well-cared for as I can without going into debt because we have the technology. Just because we have the technology doesn't mean that it needs to be used to extend a life, and technology doesn't mean quality of life!

Just my thoughts as I live with the not so newest members of my household, Hunter and Bella.

"Every life should have nine cats!"

Family Reunion

I went to a family reunion in a small town called Koosharem (it is near Fish Lake and Richfield). My grandmother was the youngest of 11 (I always believed it was 12, until our family was in charge and was I was set straight).

The reunion is always held the last Saturday of June.

There is not much in Koosharem except a school, a Town Hall, a cafe, a little country store and a five room motel. It is a nice place, about a little over three hours from Salt Lake City.

There seems to be fewer and fewer of the extended family members coming each year as the older ones pass on and the younger ones have other things to do...it will be interesting to see how many more years it will go on...

Friendships

“Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are -- chaff and grain together -- certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away…” -- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Friendship, what is its value to us? How do we determine who our friends are and how much of our lives are theirs to share? Who do we confide in? What are we willing share? How does that change as time goes on? How many friends are enough? What makes us separate and move away from each other?

I have been contemplating these questions for some time now...It seems as if there is a cycle to friendships. (see blog: "A Reason, A Season or A Lifetime" 10/07).

I value my friendships. Some have been started through school, through work, through other friends. I have had a few best friends in my lifetime. One of my best friends was when I moved back to Utah in 1979. She lived just west of my grandmother and that is how I met her. We became fast friends and I was her maid of honor when she got married. We drifted apart after that...I can't really say why, I have an idea or two. My other best friend has been recently. But things changed last year, I know exactly when and why it changed, but there wasn't any way to prevent it. I tried talking to her about it and all it did was make her defensive and obviously I was the only one with a problem!

I have learned the hard way that you really can't go back. I have tried to go back and rectify the things that went wrong, or at least what I thought I had done wrong. I have apologized, but some things just can't be fixed...sometimes you just have to let go (see blog: "Let It Go" 10/07) and move on...and if we keep looking back we miss all the blessings and new oportunities that are right in front of us.

Fathers & Daughters

DAUGHTERS by John Mayer

I know a girl.
She puts the color inside of my world.
She's just like a maze,
Where all of the walls all continually change.
I've done all I can
To stand on the steps with my heart in my hand,
But I'm starting to think
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me.

Fathers be good to your daughters;
Daughters will love like you do, yeah.
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers,
So mothers be good to your daughters, too.

Oh, you see that skin;
It's the same she's been standing in
Since the day you two met.
I bet I was on your mind
Never never anytime.

Fathers be good to your daughters;
Daughters will love like you do, yeah.
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers,
So mothers be good to your daughters, too.

Boys you can break,
You find out how much they can take.
Boys will be strong, and boys soldier on,
But boys would be gone without warmth
From a woman's good, good heart

On behalf of every man, looking out for every girl,
You are the god, and the weight of her world.
On behalf of every man whose looking out for every girl,
You are the god, and the weight of her world.

Fathers be good to your daughters,
Daughters will love like you do, yeah.
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers,
So mothers be good to your daughters, too.
So mothers be good to your daughters, too.

********************************************

I loved this song from the minute I heard it. I don't think men understand the effect they have on their children, especially their daughters.

If a daughter has a father who treats her and her mother with kindness and respect, that is most likely the type of man she will seek out to be her life partner. If the father is abusive in any manner, verbally, physically or sexually...the daughter can be one of several ways; she can build a wall (usually gains weight to avoid unwanted attention), is depressed and will never trust or let anyone into her life or she becomes promiscuous and searches for love with the wrong types of men. She can become an overachiever, because if she is "perfect", the abuse will go away and sometimes she can be some of all of the above.

**************************************************

What most daughters (and sons) want is to know that the two most important people in their life are going to be the ones who will protect them, nurture them and make them feel loved no matter what...if you can't do that for your daughters and sons, then do the world a favor and get yourself fixed before you have the opportunity to destroy your children's lives!

My Favorite Monk Joke

In an ancient monastery in a faraway place, a new monk arrived to join his brothers in copying books and scrolls in the monastery's scriptorium. He was assigned as a rubricator on copies of books that had already been copied by hand.

One day he asked Father David (the Armarius of the Scriptorium), "Does not the copying by hand of other copies allow for chances of error? How do we know we are not copying the mistakes of someone else? Are they ever checked against the original?"

Fr. David is set back a bit by the obvious logical observation of this youthful monk. "A very good point, my son. I will take one of the latest books down to
the vault and compare it against the original."

Fr. David went down to the secured vault and began his verification. After a day had passed, the monks began to worry and went down looking for the old priest. They were sure something must have happened. As they approached the vault, they heard sobbing and crying. When they opened the door, they found Fr. David sobbing over the new copy and the original ancient book, both of which were opened before him on the table. It was obvious to all that the poor man had been crying his old heart out
for a long time.

"What is the problem Reverend Father?" asked one of the monks.

"Oh, my heavens," sobbed the priest, "the word is 'CELEBRATE'!"

American Idol - Season 7 - David Cook

I had only watch brief bits of the past six seasons of American Idol...but for some reason I got caught up in this one, of course it didn't hurt that there was a hometown favorite...David Archuleta. And Archie is sweet, but he just doesn't have enough stage presence...yet, and one day it will be his turn!

Okay, I admit it...I voted for David Cook!!! Even if I am old enough to be his mother, he just has incredible appeal and I love his voice. I read an article about women over 40 loving him and it was okay because he is OVER the legal age limit. I still wouldn't date anyone in their 20's but I can certainly "admire" them from a distance!

I was so impressed by his versions of "Billie Jean" and "Hello"...honestly, there isn't a song I didn't like and I have downloaded all of them!

Way to go David Cook!!!

How Time Flies...

I really like my car, but my A/C went out just in time for the hot weather! No problem, I have a bumper to bumper warranty! I take it to the dealership, duh, the warranty has expired...last April. I can't believe that I have had my car for five years...dang, it seems like just two! What's a girl to do? And I can't count on the stimulus check because I owe the IRS lots of money, so they will probably keep it.

As my brother always tells me "it sucks to be you". This week it does...oh well, there's always tomorrow!! LOL!!!

Menopause

Maxine and Cleaning

What Happens on Sunday!

Maxine and Hot Flashes...Power Surges!!

Eat Right, Exercise Regularly...Die Anyway!!

I Love Polar Bears!

March Madness & April Stuff

March was full of family events with my cousin Beth getting married. She was such a beautiful bride and it was great to see family, especially those from out of town.

Then I got sick for a week (of course it was the week my boss was out of town)! Finally went to Instacare to be told there was nothing wrong with me, except whatever bug was running around the area. Some day I will die of nothing...LOL!

Work has been stressful this week. I had my taxes done last week...just shoot me now!! I probably need to get two more jobs to finance my taxes. I will be quitting all my outside activities for a while. I just can't afford to be a social butterfly!

I have really cut back on my bowling as well, but did bowl this week with two reasonable scores and one "what the heck happened" score...185/116/160...

Nothing to get too excited about...til next time!

My 49th Birthday!!

Monday was my 49th Birthday! Not much to get excited about, just another Monday!

My mom called at 11:30 and asked what I was doing for lunch, which was nothing. So she and my aunt Linda showed up with pizza and roses...120 roses to be exact!! Various colors and so pretty.

She knew and then promply forgot in the space of five minutes that Costco/Sam's does 24 per bunch not 12 and being that my age is an odd one...she needed two packages plus one flower and then started gathering them. I had red ones, yellow ones, white ones and pale yellow tinged with red.

After work, I trimmed the bottoms off and arranged them in the vases and took some back to mom. We met up at Marie Callendar's for dinner with Linda.

Got several cards and emails. It was a nice day after all!

Pink Sparkles

I called the radio station yesterday to talk to Shantele, the Angel Lady. Of course I asked about love...she said that I had a pink aura (which signifies love) with sparkles. I should just keep doing what I'm doing...whatever that is? So I guess I sparkle with love...woohoo! Better order a large supply of angel dust to spread around!

Grandma's Birthday

Today would have been my Grandma's 93rd birthday! She has been gone two years. Some days it seems like forever and others it seems just like yesterday. I feel blessed that I had her in my life into my 40's and that she was able to attend my wedding.

There is something to be said for being the oldest child of two oldest children, you can be lucky enough to know your great-grandparents as well as your grandparents.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Bad Blogger - current ramblings

Somehow I imagined when I started to blog that I would just ramble on and on and on...how could I not since I have soooo many opinions about everything? Well it is much easier said than typed!!

So here I sit looking at the screen thinking and thinking and then mind wanders away...get back here!!

Okay, some general comments about what has been happening in the news:

I wish the writer's strike would be over soon (I watch too much TV, hmm, maybe this is the time to turn it off and find something else to do...wow, what a novel concept).

**********************************************************************************

My brother and mother watch Glenn Beck (mom thinks he's cute). I have to admit I have watched a couple of shows, usually when he has a guest. He did a delightful job of interviewing Michael Buble' and I watched his interview with Jon Huntsman Sr. and have a respect for Mr. Huntsman that I didn't before.

**********************************************************************************

I am disgusted with politics as they are. There needs to be an overhaul of the system, we need to get rid of the parties and make it a popular vote and the top two vote getters become President and Vice-President. Since there are more women than men right now, there should be more women in the politics. I would love to have a woman president, just not Hilliary. I think I would have loved to have seen Ann Richards there. I really just want someone in there that can balance a budget, can get along with congress and that has common sense! (I want a president like "Dave", the movie or one like whatever the TV show was that starred Geena Davis, guess it's easier to write good presidents than to be one). Yes, I also know that most of our problems are not the president's fault, it is congress. There also needs to be terms limits, 2 to 3 terms at most.

Electile Dysfunction : the inability to become aroused over any of the choices for president put forth by either party in the 2008 election year.

**********************************************************************************

It saddens me that our young "celebrities" can't deal with their own lives and that there have been several overdoses in this new year. And so much alcohol abuse...back to one of my previous blogs...if I had money do you think I would be driving myself...nope, hire me a good driver, preferrably handsome!!

**********************************************************************************

Well, that's it folks! Take care until next time!

It's a New Year!

I think my favorite holiday is New Year (just as Spring is my favorite season) because to me it represents a "new" beginning (again) to dream about the possibilities of the coming year. What do I want to accomplish this year? What is standing in my way besides myself? How can I make things happen? "They" say writing down your resolutions and/or goals makes it easier to keep them in mind...

1. To make sure that all my family and friends know that they are loved!! Because they are!!! And to keep them laughing.

2. To let go of the "clutter" in my home and my life.

3. To find my passion...whatever that might be: a new job, a new love, a new adventure, a new experience, to be open to whatever is placed before me.

Right now three looks good and reasonable!

Best wishes for a new year full of love and amazing possibilities!!!

New Year's Eve "Date"

Oh my gosh...my first ever New Year's Eve "date". I put the word date in parenthisis because I'm not sure it can be called a date?

He called me at 4:00 at work to see why I wasn't at home getting ready for the girlfriends that were (I thought) going to come watch videos with me, but those plans had fallen apart (which turned out to be a blessing...thanks ladies). So I asked him what he was doing and he said he might be asking me to a clambake. "And when might he know if he was asking me?"...when he found out what time it started.

I picked him up and drove us to his friend's house. They had soooooo much food...corn on the cob, potatoes, rolls, three sizes of shrimp, crabs, mussels, clams, lobster and prime rib (for some people who were coming that didn't like seafood and then weren't able to come). His friends were wonderful, very fun and accepting!

He decided at 10:50 that there is another party we need to go to in the Avenues, but turns out it got cancelled...so we drove around the same streets about 10 times before we found a place where we could see the valley and watch all the fire works! Then I dropped him off at his house and was home by 12:45.

It was a great evening with a nice guy!
